Wow, those were tough choices-answering all those questions to create my profile!
I am a multi-faceted person with a lot of interests. I teach at a homeschool resource center, I have a tiny home business at Eugene's Saturday Market, and I have a lot of other things I like to do too.
In my work and personal life I like to be as green as possible, although technology is a big part of my life as well.
At home I have 2 lovely daughters, a black lab, 1 adult cat and 2 teenaged kittens.
I love the outdoors, and need to connect on a regular basis. For physical activity I like to walk, ski, rollerskate, workout on my pilates machine and garden. I like to do small household repairs, and house painting. Not plumbing though-it's trouble for me...I'm a bit domestically challenged as far as tedious cleaning tasks and household drudgery go, but I don't like squalor either. I just prefer to do things and live life rather than being a slave to the house.
I love new adventures. There are adventures to be found most anywhere.
Generally, I think I'm a fun person to be around.
What kind of person are you interested in meeting?
The ideal man for me would be a cross between Echardt Tolle and Henry Rollins, with a desire to be in a committed relationship.
I want to meet a man who knows himself, has interests (a life), and isn't driven by addictions or inordinate amounts of adrenaline (triggered by extreme, risky behavior.) I do tend to be attracted to the "bad boy" type, but I want one with a conscience and a soul. If you're still a bit of a punk rocker, or ride a motorcycle that's great, as long as you are emotionally available and care about your relationships.
I don't think it's too awfully shallow of me to say this (since I find Eckhart Tolle and Henry Rollins attractive,) but physical attraction and, and sexual compatibility are both very important to me.
What sort of relationship would you like at this point in your life.
I desire a real connection-a long-term, committed relationsip. I could be open to marriage if I felt I was with the right person.
What made you choose Vegetarianism as a way of life? What impact has it had on your life?
I have been mostly vegetarian my whole life. As soon as I found out where meat came from I was done. There have been times when I eat a bit of poultry, but I really am not interested in eating animals.
I eat a plant based diet, sometimes a little dairy and on rare occasions, I have eaten sushi and salmon.
What is your favorite Vegetarian food?
There is a restaurant in Eugene called the Keystone Cafe that is only open for breakfast and lunch, and they have the most amazing vegan dis-biscuits and crimini mushroom gravy. It's the best!
Would you like to share a great (easy) Vegetarian recipe?
Scrambled Surata tofu with spike and nutritional yeast. Kind of like scrambled eggs, but delicious-not disgusting.
Do you follow any other healthy lifestyles (yoga, etc.)?
I practice a healing meditation.
Name some of your all-time favorite music / movies / TV / books.
There are a few old movies I love from the 40's. I have pretty ecclectic tastes-I like Bessy Smith, Glenn Miller, Patsy Cline, The Ramones, Social Distortion, most punk from the 70's and 80's, and some newer stuff.
I like going out to movies, and I watch IFC and BBC programming on tv. One of my favorites is Kitchen Nightmares.
What type of work do you do? Do you enjoy it?
I teach homeschooled kids computer technology, and some art classes. I plan field trips too.
My home business is a small sewing operation.
What do you enjoy doing for fun?
Taking my dog to the dog park, going on hikes, camping, I love going to new places to explore.
What do you hate doing?
Getting up early and going to work. School should start at 10.
Tell about where you grew up or where you are from.
California, originally.
Do you have pets? Tell about them.
1 dog, 3 cats.
What would you say is your best virtue?
I'm honest and real.
What was the most daring / wild thing you have ever done?
ummm, well, I walked on hot coals at a Tony Robbins seminar in the 80's, and recently I went to Burning Man-which I loved and plan to go back this summer.
What terrifies you?
Loud, closed-minded people.
If you were on a deserted island, and you could choose 3 items to take, what would they be?
I'm too practical to answer this-I'm thinking about survival gear...
Your ultimate intimate dinner party would include which 3 guests (dead or alive)?
Gore Vidal, Kurt Vonnegut, Henry Rollins
How is your physical shape? What do you do to keep in shape?
I have a pretty active life and I'm in good shape. I am recovering from an injury that made it difficult for me to do my usual summer stuff, like serious gardening and putting together my Saturday Market booth that gets me in great shape. I'm almost completely healed and building muscle again-doing pilates and getting ready for the ski season.
While looking at a person’s profile, following the picture, what are the first things you look for?
Kind eyes, maturity, but with a fun youthful spirit, and someone who isn't carrying around a lot of baggage-someone who has grown and learned from their past experiences.
Openness and a sense of adventure are important too.
What else should we know about you?
People tend to assume that I'm a conventional, conservative person because of the work I do. I am very much an independant and free thinking person who is open to living the best, and fullest life I can.
